LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

 

 

  • September

    The M/V Mississippi moored in North Little Rock, Ark during the Mississippi River Commission’s low-water inspection of the McClellan -Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System Aug. 10 through 14. The commission met with stakeholders onboard the largest towboat in the country and the official vessel of the MRC.

    USA’s largest towboat returns to Arkansas River

    The Mississippi River Commission visited the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System Aug. 10 through 14 to perform a low-water inspection and meet with stakeholders onboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi, the largest towboat in the country and the official vessel of the MRC. The vessel is 241 feet long, 52 feet high and is an operational towboat 90 percent of the time.

  • Aboard the Army Corps’ vessel MV Hayward, various Army Corps New York District representatives and partners reviewed accomplishments, convened discussions about future partnering, restoration activities, water navigation, deepening the federal channels, operations and maintenance and waterfront planning.

    Army Corps Conducts Inspection of New York Harbor with Partners

    During September 2014, the Army Corps’ New York District conducted a harbor inspection which provided the venue and platform afloat for a forum with agency heads, civic leaders from municipal, state, and federal agencies to exchange ideas and dialogue about past, present and future efforts along the waterfront. Aboard the Army Corps’ vessel MV Hayward, various Corps representatives and partners reviewed accomplishments, convened discussions about future partnering, restoration activities, water navigation, deepening the federal channels, operations and maintenance and waterfront planning.
