The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division serves as USACE’s tip of the spear in one of the most dynamic construction environments in the world, STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS, BUILDING CAPACITY, and ENHANCING SECURITY for our nation, allies, and partners. 

We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Joey Behr, a Program Manager in the Business Integration Division (right) visits with his boss, Scott Cilley at the Transatlantic Division's headquarters in Winchester, Va. Behr was named the Transatlantic Division’s Employee of the Quarter for October-December 2019 during All-Hands Town Hall held across the globe on March 19, 2020. Employees from inside the U.S. and from a dozen countries in the Middle East attended the Town Hall telephonically in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Division announces Employee of the Quarter

    Joey Behr, a Program Manager in the Business Integration Division, was named the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division’s Employee of the Quarter for October-December 2019. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Behr’s selection was announced during a telephonic All-Hands Town Hall held across the globe on March 19, 2020, with employees from inside the U.S. and from around a dozen countries in the Middle East.

    JoAnn Evans, a former Transatlantic Division employee who was recently inducted into the organization’s Gallery of Distinguished Civilians, and Susan Fenton, a current TAD employee, both were awarded the Civilian Service Achievement Medal during a ceremony here Feb. 20.

    TAD inducts former employees into new Gallery of Distinguished Civilians

    As the Transatlantic Division joins the rest of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in celebrating Engineer Week 2020, the Division inducted two former TAD employees into its new Gallery of Distinguished Civilians (GoDC) in front of family, friends and former co-workers. The two inaugural inductees – Donn Booker and Jo-Ann Evans – complement this year's Engineer Week theme, which is “Pioneers of Progress.” Both were inducted into the GoDC during a ceremony held Feb. 20, 2020 at TAD’s headquarters in Winchester, Va.

    The District bids farewell to a supercharging Soldier

    Soldiers make up a healthy portion of the USACE regiment, bringing discipline, leadership and devotion to the duty for which they are given the opportunity to engage in. The Afghanistan District was honored to share the same platform with a young Soldier with high caliber skills.

Semonite, the 54th Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and USACE Command Sergeant Major Bradley Houston, drove 70 miles through the winter mix that enveloped Northern Virginia to visit with the men and women of the Transatlantic Division here Jan. 7, 2020.

    TAD’s senior civilian earns Presidential Rank Award

    When President Donald Trump recognized 141 members of the Federal Government’s Senior Executive Service by presenting them with the annual Presidential Rank Award on Dec. 17, 2019, Alvin “Al” Lee, the Transatlantic Division’s Director of Programs and Business, was among the list of 30 recipients earning the “Distinguished Executives” award – one of only four Department of the Army members receiving the recognition. The Presidential Rank Award is the top award a civilian Federal employee can receive.

    Deployments aren't permanent, but worthwhile

    Deploying is a choice for Civilians within the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, and sometimes the tour could last anywhere from 6 months to a year, and even less.
