We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Lt. Col. Adrian Biggerstaff became the 74th commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District, during a change of command ceremony July 10, at the Battleship Missouri Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

    Bear Creek Dam gate maintenance project plans released

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District is planning to replace emergency and service gates at the Bear Creek Dam’s reservoir intake structure in Littleton, Colorado, in December 2024. While still functional, recent inspections have shown corrosion is not permitting the gates, steel liners and other metal components to seal properly, allowing water to leak while closed. Therefore, maintenance actions need to be taken to ensure the structure remains functional in the future.

    Mobile District completes project in historic Selma

    Sometimes, the work of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers finds them helping to preserve or protect historic locations and sites. The Mobile District participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the City of Selma, Alabama, on July 8, 2024, to celebrate the completion of Project 14, which stabilized the bank behind the historic train depot.

(July 8, 2024) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC), a center under the Institute for Water Resources, proudly announces that Michael Bartles has been awarded the 2024 Hydrology, Hydraulics, and Coastal Community of Practice (HH&C CoP) Professional of the Year Award. Bartles, a senior hydraulic engineer at HEC, has significantly contributed to advancements in 2-dimensional hydrologic modeling and statistical modeling of mixed populations in flow frequency.     Louisville District hosts 2024 Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District hosted 58 high school students participating in
