The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division serves as USACE’s tip of the spear in one of the most dynamic construction environments in the world, STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS, BUILDING CAPACITY, and ENHANCING SECURITY for our nation, allies, and partners. 

We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Protecting NASA from wildfires critical role for Mobile District’s forester at Stennis

    One man stands between a potential wildfire and NASA’s largest rocket engine test facility, the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. That man is Quinn Kelly, a forestry technician with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District Water Management Chief James Hathorn introduces students to the fun side of math and science using a problem-solving game during a visit to a local elementary school earlier this year. Hathorn volunteers in the community regularly as a way to give back for the positive mentorship he received as a child.

    Childhood mentors drive USACE Engineer to “pay it forward”

    As a result of the positive example his mentor’s set for him, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, Water Management Chief James Hathorn Jr. has gone out of his way as an adult to return the favor. In his spare time he regularly volunteers with youth sports, the Cub Scouts, his church, various career fairs and local schools. One particular area that he stresses when he spends time with students is the importance of learning science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 15, 2017) – Nashville District officials gave real estate career advice today to a class of college STEM students at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

  • Finding a way to make it possible – deer hunt for the physically disabled

    The 10th annual physically disabled and veterans deer hunt took place on the wildlife sanctuary within the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, St. Paul District, Orwell Dam and Recreation Area, near Fergus Falls, Minnesota, from Nov. 14 to 16, 2017.
  • Salmon swim by a fish window at Bonneville Lock & Dam on the Columbia River as they return to their spawning grounds. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife assists the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in meeting The Dalles and John Day dams’ fish mitigation goals by producing similar fish at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery. This past year, the Corps changed from a cooperative agreement with ODFW to contracts for hatchery services.

    Like a salmon swimming hundreds of miles to spawning grounds, Portland District has reached the end of a challenging year regarding fish production in Oregon. This year was the fifth and final year of a cooperative agreement with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to manage hatchery operations and provide fish production services in the Columbia, Willamette and Rogue river basins.
