We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

In 1987 the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot became a matter of public concern when a piece of crystalline TNT was found at the Tidewater Community College, Portsmouth Campus. Extensive historical research, investigations, and testing led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to place this site on the National Priority list in 1999.     CSS Georgia’s parting shot

    SAVANNAH, Ga. — Ben Redmond and Matt Christiansen are breathing a little easier now that the most dangerous part of their job is over. The pair, along with a handful of engineers and technicians, spent the last two months inerting 170 Dahlgren and 6.4-inch Brooke projectiles that Navy divers recovered from the CSS Georgia this summer.

    The Republic of Korea-U.S. Alliance Friendship Association presented a Korean name to Col. Stephen H. Bales, commander and district engineer of the Far East District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, at a ceremony at the Korea Ministry of National Defense on Nov. 19.

    District commander visits regional office

    Col. Kirk Gibbs, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District, toured Arizona-Nevada Area Office projects Nov. 19-20. His first visit since assuming command in July, Gibbs met stakeholders, spoke with employees, presented awards, and viewed key projects.
  • The Charleston District hosted the inaugural Wounded Warrior Dove Hunt at the Cooper River Rediversion Project where five of our nation's heroes gathered for a day of fellowship and to test their hunting skills. This event was the second Wounded Warrior event hosted by the Charleston District this year as part of our mission to provide high-quality experiences for our nation's heroes.
