LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    The mitigaton project next to Whelan Lake in Oceanside will provide seasonal flooding to reestablish a wetland environment. This section of one of the completed ribbon channels adjacent to the San Luis Rey River will allow water during rain events to flow around several islands that were left in place to provide habitat for endangered species.

    Workshop improves mitigation process knowledge

    Because the nation’s environmental rules and regulations are frequently revised, it is often difficult for permit applicants to incorporate the most recent guidelines into their work. To help improve this process, members of the Los Angeles District’s Regulatory Division conducted a compensatory mitigation workshop July 16 at the District’s headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.
  • BRAINERD, Minn. – Robert Burns, Gull Lake Recreation Area summer ranger, picks up debris following a July 12 storm that dropped nearly 1,000 trees. The park, on the southeast side of Gull Lake and near Brainerd, Minnesota, had campers at 26 campsites when the storm arrived around 7 p.m. Despite damage to a few vehicles and buildings, there were no injuries to any of the staff of campers.

  • Huntsville team provides expertise in delivering customers cyber secure facilities, systems

    To ensure consistent delivery of efficient, cyber secure facilities and systems to its customers, Huntsville Center established an Information Assurance and Information Technology (IA/IT) Branch in its Engineering Directorate. The center has also been designated the USACE Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Technical Center of Expertise (TCX).
  • In an effort to keep Buffalo District employees and their families safe of the 4th of July weekend; senior leaders stopped exiting traffic and delivered a safe driving tips handout followed by a personal greeting wishing the occupant(s) safe travels for holiday weekend. For the Buffalo District; there were no reported traffic mishaps over the 4th of July weekend.; We would like to think that lack of driving related incidents are at least partially due to the steps the Buffalo District leadership took.
