We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    For two weeks, Jacksonville District leaders have traveled around South Florida, spreading the news about the preliminary preferred model for the future management of Lake Okeechobee.

    USACE Vicksburg District’s Holly Porter named 2021 Program Manager of the Year

    Success comes in many forms, and many attribute their personal success to those who have helped them achieve it. Holly Porter, Project Manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District, credits her success to those who helped pave the way for her. Porter was recently named the 2021 USACE Program Manager of the Year. This national recognition highlighted the work Holly has done and the strides she has made throughout the region.
  • The Hardened Alternative Trailer System (HATS) two-story protective structure used by Department of State, with additions of the recently patented weather-resistance and connective flashing components. The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory Research Civil Engineer Justin Roberts of Vicksburg, Mississippi, improved his previously patented Modular Anti-Ballistic, Blast and Forced Entry Resistant Shelter invention, part of HATS, with these capabilities.     ERDC engineer improves Department of State protective shelter patent

    U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Geotechnical and Structure Laboratory (GSL) Research Civil Engineer Justin Roberts recently made improvements to a previous patent that will enhance protective shelters leveraged by the Department of State (DOS).
  • Dr. Irene MacAllister, a research chemist with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, receives the Czech Republic’s University of Defence Medal.

    MacAllister honored for vital research in Czech Republic

    Dr. Irene MacAllister, a research chemist with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), has been awarded the Czech Republic’s University of Defence Medal honoring her “for the immense contribution she has made to the research effort in protection against high-risk biological agents.” She received the award upon recent completion of her assignment with the U.S. Army Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program (ESEP) to the Czech Republic.
  • The Delta Variant is as much as 225 percent more transmissible than the original virus based on documentation from the United Kingdom’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies.

    District working to combat COVID spike

    Galveston District Commander Col. Tim Vail held a town hall August 2 with the entire workforce, to discuss new COVID-19 mitigations in light of the newest COVID-19 strain -- the Delta variant. Vail recommended the District workforce continue following all current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Defense (DoD) installation requirements on COVID-19 prevention.
