LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Corps opens sluice gate to improve oxygen in water at Dale Hollow Dam

    CELINA, Tenn. (Sept. 2, 2011) —The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District opened a sluice gate at the Dale Hollow Dam today to supplement hydropower releases with additional oxygen and water quality.

  • Corps’ Personnel Stay Prepared to Respond to Disasters

    The employees of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers took action in anticipation of Hurricane Irene’s landfall by monitoring storm activity, taking measures to minimize flood damage and pre-positioning its trained responders.
  • Joseph Lopez and Roger Apodaca, District’s Abiquiu Lake equipment operators, narrowly escaped a flash flood while steadily maneuvering heavy equipment owned by the Corps to help clear debris from a flooded area of Santa Clara Canyon.

    Santa Clara Canyon Debris Removal Turns Perilous

    Abiquiu Lake Operations Manager Dave Dutton visited Santa Clara Canyon to see the progress made by Joseph Lopez and Roger Apodaca, District’s Abiquiu Lake equipment operators, and was astounded. He said there was absolutely no way the Santa Clara Pueblo would be as far up their canyon without the Corps’ help.
  • After introductions and an explanation of the Middle Rio Grande Collaborative Program and Rio Grande Water Compact, the physical tour began on Day two at the Corps' Abiquiu Lake Project.The first stop was Abiquiu’s Diversion Outlook where participants heard a presentation by Mr. Fred Vigil, Director of the Rio Chama Acequia Association.

    Tour for Congress Staffers Strengthens Partnerships

    The District had the unique opportunity of collaborating with other federal and state water management agencies to provide a thorough field briefing to New Mexico’s congressional staff members during the week of Aug. 8.
