We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Prep students shadow Nashville District engineers

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 9, 2012) – Experiencing the “day in the life” of an engineer, two sophomores from Montgomery Bell Academy participated in a shadow program today with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Engineering Branch.
  • AFGHANISTAN — Rain clouds gather Jan. 13, 2012 over the much-needed Rigger K-Span flood mitigation project designed on short notice and completed by the 533rd Engineer Detachment Forward Engineer Support Team-Main before the beginning of the annual rainy season at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. The repair project was required to solve a drainage problem that developed around the two buildings previously constructed near the then undeveloped southwest end of the airfield.

    Members of the 533rd Engineer Detachment, Forward Engineer Support Team-Main were highly praised March 1, 2012 at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan by Maj. Gen. Kendall P. Cox, commander of Transatlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

    USACE exceeds construction placement goals for 6 straight months

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Afghanistan Engineering District-South exceeded its contracting and construction goals for February, the sixth consecutive month of execution success.
  • Oil spill responders from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, recently trained at ERDC-CRREL on equipment for oil spill recovery and cleanup. The field practical portion included proficiency checks in spill site safety and techniques.

    CRREL hosts innovative "Advanced Ice Safety and Response" training

    ERDC Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) recently provided to Alaska Clean Seas (ACS), an oil spill removal organization (OSRO) based in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, a facility for training their oil spill responders.

    ERDC Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory's (CRREL) Dr. Zoe Courville, a Polar researcher specializing in Greenland and Antarctic ice core drilling and analysis, recently explained lab work and shares field experiences with Dartmouth College students for their environmental studies class project on ice cores.
