The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division serves as USACE’s tip of the spear in one of the most dynamic construction environments in the world, STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS, BUILDING CAPACITY, and ENHANCING SECURITY for our nation, allies, and partners. 

We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Working on Engineering a World Away

    When Project Manager Michael Fies joined the Corps in 2000, he told his wife, who is Japanese, that he would keep an eye open for an opportunity to do a tour of duty in Japan. Seven years later, a position came open in Pacific Ocean Division, Japan District (POJ).

    Kirtland Gets More Room for Space Development and Test

    Members of the District joined Kirtland Air Force Base leadership, public officials and many others in a celebration March 15 for the completion of new building 415a for research. The project is a two-story, open storage building that will support the mission of the base’s Space Development and Test Directorate.

    533rd FEST-M in Afghanistan

    The 533rd FEST-M returned to Fort Knox, Ky., April 3 after completing more than 230 engineer designs, assessments, surveys and quality assurance/quality control projects throughout Afghanistan during its year-long deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) explains the Trinity River Project to visiting DISD students. USACE was one of EDD 2011's hands-on exhibitors. Thousands of Dallas Independent School District students visited the USACE booth and learned about the Trinity River Project and its impact on the local ecosystem. USACE has approximately 34,000 dedicated civilians and soldiers delivering engineering services to customers in more than 90 countries worldwide. USACE men and women protect and restore the Nation's environment including efforts in the Everglades, the Louisiana coast, and in many of the country's waterways. USACE also cleans sites with contaminated with hazardous, toxic and radioactive waste and material in hopes of sustaining the environment.

    April is known for its spring showers, the hum of lawn mowers as they start up, and for the annual Earth Day celebrations hosted by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers districts, divisions, and centers.
