LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

  • WIESBADEN, Germany — The Gen. John Shalikashvili Mission Command Center will be the new home for most of the staff of U.S Army Europe and is located at the Gen. Lucas D. Clay Kaserne, U.S. Army Airfield in Wiesbaden, Germany. The quality, sustainable, state-of-the-art facility was constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District in 22 months. The building, named during a June 14, 2012 ceremony is a memorial to Gen. John Shalikashvili who was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1936 and was the first foreign-born American Soldier to be appointed as a Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

    U.S. Army Europe names USACE built Mission Command Center

    The new Gen. John Shalikashvili Mission Command Center will be the new home for most of the staff of U.S Army Europe and is located at the newly named Gen. Lucius D. Clay Kaserne, U.S. Army Airfield in Wiesbaden, Germany.
  • LAS VEGAS -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District's Nellis Resident Office is working on an addition and improvement for the F-35 422 Evaluation Squadron Facility at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. The renovations will add a 16,000 square foot building and improve 4,000 square feet inside the existing facility.

    District keeps projects moving along in Las Vegas area

    LAS VEGAS – It’s been said that what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas. However, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District is working on military construction projects in and around the Las Vegas area that will have effects across the country and around the world. One project at Nellis Air Force Base is the addition and renovation at the 422 Test Evaluation Squadron building. “The project will add a 16,000 square feet facility and there will be renovation of 4,000 square feet of the existing building,” said Mark Porterfield, project engineer at the District’s Nellis Resident Office. “Construction began in early June and the project is due in March 2013”
  • LAS VEGAS -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District's Nellis Resident Office recently completed a solar panel project at the Bureau of Land Management's fire station at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area near Las Vegas. The new photovoltaic system is capable of generating 40 KWAC to provide power for all the buildings on the facility.

    District brings “green” power to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

    LAS VEGAS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District’s Nellis Resident Office recently completed a solar power project for the Bureau of Land Management at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. “The new photovoltaic system is capable of producing an average of 40 KWAC of electricity,” said Viet Q. Tran, project engineer at the Nellis office. “The calculated full load requirement to support the fire station is 38.6 KW; therefore, this solar system is designed to fully support the full load requirement.”
