LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    The Seattle District started construction of the Riverview Park Project, a $3 million project to build approximately 750 feet of new stream channel. Sponsored by the City of Kent, the new channel will flow through the middle of what will become a city park. This is the first side channel construction under the Green/Duwamish Ecosystem Restoration Project. The channel, which opened recently, will provide critical Chinook salmon rearing habitat and establish a winter refuge for fish during high flows in the main stem of the Green River.

To combat this degradation, Seattle District employees have worked closely with the affected communities affected to come up with a solution.

    Throughout the month of October Tulsa District employees have participated in fundraisers and events raising money for the Combined Federal Campaign.
  • An airman tries out the pedal car obstacle course while wearing goggles that impair vision. The activity demonstrated the effects of alcohol on the body and encouraged people not to drink alcohol while boating. It was one of many interactive and educational activities that were a part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division’s water safety event at the McConnell Air Force Base Air Show and Open House Sept. 29 & 30 in Wichita, Kansas.

    Taking water safety to the troops

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division water safety team held its division-wide water safety event as part of the Wings over McConnell 2012 Open House and Air Show Sept. 29 & 30 at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas. More than two dozen team members from the division and its four districts (Tulsa, Little Rock, Galveston and Ft. Worth), as well as the the Kansas City District and the National Water Safety Team staffed a 150 foot by 100 foot area during the two day event visited by more than 100 thousand military members and their dependents who attended the Open House and Air Show.
