We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Along with a commemorative copy of the designation document signed by the Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Deputy Secretary of the Interior David J. Hayes (Center) sent this “thank you” photo taken at the designation ceremony Jan. 9 in Little Rock, Ark. The Honorable Terrence “Rock” Salt, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works is on the far right.

    White River receives National Blueway designation

    The White River and its entire basin became the second watershed to receive designation as a “National Blueway” at a ceremony in Little Rock, Ark., Jan. 9. The first was the Connecticut River; however the White River Watershed is the first to undergo the full nomination, evaluation and recognition process.

  • Facelift for Bedford Veterans Administration hospital

    The New England District and its contractor recently completed a much needed facelift to Building #2 at the Veterans Administration hospital, also known as The Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, in Bedford, Mass.
  • Following “The Power of Partnerships” conference, Col.     Partnerships bring recognition, success

    Several hundred watershed management professionals gathered April 11 in Costa Mesa, Calif., to discuss the benefits of consolidating efforts for maximum benefit in the present and anticipated times of fiscal limitations.

  • Omaha District Leadership Development Program participants, Candace Akins, Eileen Williamson and Josh Melliger display the pallid sturgeon they caught during broodstock collection efforts with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, April 8. The pallid sturgeon measured 585 millimeters long and weighed 735 grams – not big enough to be reproduction-ready. It was returned to the river with the rest of the catch. A pallid should be at least 800 mm long before it is shipped to the hatchery.

    Each year, personnel from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District participate with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to assist with an effort to collect and ship reproductive-ready pallid sturgeon to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hatchery near Gavins Point Dam or Missouri Department of Conservation’s Blind Pony State Fish Hatchery.
