We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    COL Klein Engages STARBASE Academy Students with Engineering Program

    Students at the STARBASE Academy in Winchester, Va., recently explored the world of engineering with Col. Christopher Klein, Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Middle East District (TAM). STARBASE, a Department of Defense program, aims to inspire elementary students in STEM fields. Klein, whose son's class participated, shared his experiences, emphasized the importance of engineering, and led students in building popsicle stick bridges to test their strength. Klein's presentation highlighted TAM's commitment to developing future engineers, encouraging students to imagine themselves shaping tomorrow's technology.

    Employees highlight careers at Antioch Middle School STEAM event

    ANTIOCH, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2024) – Employees showed off their displays, provided demonstrations, and highlighted their careers last week during a sanctioned Tennessee STEAM Festival event at Antioch Middle School. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders learned about opportunities to pursue careers with the Corps of Engineers that require studies focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
  • Soldiers from the 82d Chemical Reconnaissance Detachment analyze biological agents "discovered" during a three-day, multi-agency exercise that took place at ERDC’s Permafrost Tunnel Research Facility in Fox, Alaska. One of the main objectives of the exercise was to help Soldiers familiarize themselves with Far-Forward Advanced Sequencing Technology (F-FAST), which was developed by DTRA and U.S. Army DEVCOM to quickly detect, analyze and sequence biological agents while still in the field.

    ERDC Permafrost Tunnel hosts biological agent exercise

    A three-day, multi-agency exercise took place at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Permafrost Tunnel Research Facility in Fox, Alaska. The 82nd Chemical Reconnaissance Detachment, along with representatives from ERDC’s Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), U.S. Army Development Command Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM), U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), 11th Airborne Division Command Surgeon, 103d Weapons of Mass Destruction-Civil Support Team, and Naval Research Laboratory, conducted the exercise to test Soldiers' ability to quickly and accurately sequence bacteria in extreme cold and arctic conditions.
