We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    District structural engineer visits STEM summer camp to talk about bridges

    On the day some Tulsa-area middle school students learned about building bridges at their summer science camp, they benefitted from a visit by a structural engineer who designs bridges.
  • Barney Schulte, a structural engineer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, poses by the Puente de Orbigo, a medieval 13th century bridge, which is over the Rio Orbigo in Hospital de Orbigo, Spain. One of the longest medieval bridges in Spain, it was built over an earlier Roman bridge. The jousting area next to the bridge is the site of a famous tournament that took place there in 1434. Schulte visited this landmark during his 490-mile pilgrimage of Camino de Santiago, an ancient path that Christians retrace for spiritual renewal.

    Employee engineers adventure of Biblical proportions

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 27, 2014) – A Corps employee recently engineered an adventure of Biblical proportions, a 490-mile pilgrimage of “El Camino de Santiago,” also known as the Camino Francés route, an ancient path that Christians worldwide retrace for spiritual renewal.
  • It all started with a simple idea of a local police chief wanting to take kids fishing. Soon after, it became clear that “Cops and Bobbers” was going to be much more than that. On June 14, nearly 2000 people including more than 765 kids stormed the shores of Michael J. Kirwan Reservoir with a free fishing rod in one hand and donated bait in the other.

    Collaboration leads to flood risk solutions in Schuyler

    The first half of the month of June brought heavy rainfall to northeastern Nebraska including the community of Schuyler. Heavy storms the weekend of June 20 caused lowland flooding along Shell Creek reminding residents of Schuyler of the importance of constructing a new levee. The Shell Creek Levee project experienced work delays during the week of June 23 because of the increased precipitation and runoff. Ceremonial shovels broke ground in Schuyler March 27 and despite rain and chilly temperatures, warmth from smiles radiated from the project team.
