    PORTLAND, Ore. — Construction crews are rebuilding Fall Creek Dam’s Adult Fish Collection Facility southeast of Eugene, Oregon. When complete, the facility will support Portland District’s efforts to meet requirements of the 2008 Willamette Project biological opinions, issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service.

    Portland District prepares for Apoc-eclipse, sees minimal impacts

    PORTLAND, Ore. — The recent celestial phenomenon, which passed through Oregon Aug. 21 spread a shadow over more than just the state. The solar eclipse also cast a pall on local, state and federal agencies due to the expected massive influx of visitors to the area. Because of this, government agencies expended energy, time and money to plan for potential emergencies, traffic jams and safety issues. Portland District was no different.
  • The White family was relieved to call Carters Lake campground home over the weekend while she and her family rode out Hurricane Irma after being forced out of their southern Georgia homes. The Carters Lake campsite was one of 535 sites at 10 areas sites that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District made available to accommodate Hurricane Irma evacuees.

    District works to overcome Harvey’s impacts to Texas’ shipping industry

    The number of ports knocked off line due to the impacts of Hurricane Harvey have improved in part due to the Galveston District navigation staff working around-the-clock surveying channels, modifying existing dredging contracts and implementing emergency contracts to get all 28 projects back to authorized depths and fully functional.

    Crooksville OH Groundbreaking

    Huntington District Deputy District Commander Lt. Col. Josh Miller joined city officials at the Village of Crooksville, Ohio, on Sept. 13, 2017, at a groundbreaking ceremony for its water system replacement project. Since January 2013 the Village of Crooksville has experienced 65 waterline breaks due to the aged system built in the 1920s, resulting in millions of gallons of water loss per month and numerous boil water advisories.
