The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division serves as USACE’s tip of the spear in one of the most dynamic construction environments in the world, STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS, BUILDING CAPACITY, and ENHANCING SECURITY for our nation, allies, and partners. 

We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Director shows interest in Nashville’s Sevenmile Creek project

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 18, 2018) – The programs director for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and Ohio River Division visited Music City today to put eyes on the future site of a detention structure on Sevenmile Creek that will provide flood-risk-reduction benefits for the area.
  • The Arlington National Cemetery administration building houses cemetery staff who plan, coordinate and participate in funeral services, as well as provides waiting areas for family and friends to gather prior to funeral ceremonies.

    Corps awards $9.8 million contract to Leesburg based company

    A Leesburg, Virginia based small business is tasked with completing the more than $9.8 million project, which will update, repair and refurbish the 1976-built facility.

    Santa joins Bobber the Water Safety Dog for holiday message

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 17, 2018) – Kris Kringle filed a reindeer flight plan and entered American airspace with an early sleigh ride today to record a holiday safety message with Bobber the Water Safety Dog in Middle Tennessee.
  • A team from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Middle East District (MED) was recently named the “USACE Project Delivery Team (PDT) Of The Year for Merit” for their work in planning the execution of almost 1 billion dollars in foreign military sales construction for the nation of Qatar. The project, known as Shield 5, is one of the largest ever undertaken by the District and will cover the construction of several missile defense sites along with numerous support facilities spread across a wide geographic area

    District contract professionals vital to successful mission accomplishment

    A vital step in the process of bringing construction projects to reality is awarding contracts to private industry companies for the actual construction. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Middle East District will usually award and manage construction contracts through construction managers overseas at the project site and with project and contract managers at the headquarters in Winchester, Va. There have been exceptions when a foreign customer requests that the District award the contract and then turn it over to them to manage, but typically award and management go together.
