Transatlantic Division hosts senior USACE leadership for CSR

WINCHESTER, Va. – Senior leaders with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Transatlantic Division, hosted leaders from the USACE Headquarters for a biannual command strategic review March 24 in Winchester, Va.

Brig. Gen. Robert Carlson, TAD commander, along with senior staff members, updated Headquarters staff on the division’s progress in achieving the USACE Campaign Plan goals and objectives.

“The CSR is an opportunity not only for headquarters to evaluate TAD’s progress,” said Danny Rivera, a Program Manager with TAD, “but also an opportunity for TAD to share best practices and lessons learned that Headquarters may use to improve the enterprise.”

Maj. Gen. Richard Stevens, the deputy chief of engineers and the deputy commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers summed up the two-day event.

“At the end of the day, we’re trying to support the combatant commander to enable the national security of the United States,” he said.

Though the focus of the meeting was on ways to improve, Stevens emphasized the organization’s accomplishments in the Middle East.

“While I appreciate the dialogue on the things we can improve, I don’t want to lose sight of all the good,” he said. “There’s a lot going on right in this organization and I don’t want to gloss over that. You’re making a fundamental difference and you should be proud.”
