    Beck departs Transatlantic Division to take command of the Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division conducted a Relinquishment of Command ceremony June 16, 2020, at its headquarters in Winchester, Virginia, as the Division’s outgoing commander, Col. (P) Christopher Beck departed the organization for a new position as the Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division in Texas. The relinquishment of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition. It serves to ensure a unit and its personnel are never without "official" leadership. The ceremony occurs when one commander departs prior to a new commander taking command. TAD’s ceremony was hosted by Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, the 54th Chief of Engineers and USACE Commanding General.

(P) Chris Beck and his wife Sally were both presented with awards prior to their departure from the Division during a ceremony June 16, 2020, at TAD’s Headquarters in Winchester, Virginia, held in conjunction with a formal ceremony where Beck relinquished command of TAD.

    Chief of Engineers Highlights Deployment Opportunities

    The 54th Chief of Engineers, Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite, addressed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers civilians in a virtual town hall meeting Tuesday to encourage them to consider deployment opportunities available within the Corps. The meeting was hosted by the Transatlantic Middle East District’s USACE Contingency Deployment Center (UCDC) and discussed the critical need for volunteers to meet USACE’s ever-expanding missions throughout the United States and the world and benefits, both tangible and intangible, for employees who step up to answer the call.
  • Preventable mishaps result in injuries, illnesses and fatalities that impact our readiness, which is why the Army observes National Safety Month annually throughout the month of June. Transatlantic Division leaders, supervisors and employees at all levels can make a difference by becoming personally involved and fostering a positive safety and occupational health culture that enables our workforce to effectively manage personal risk. Mishaps are prevented by focusing on the fundamentals: Engagements, training, discipline and setting and following standards.
