    TAD HQ and forward deployed task forces rate their jobs as ‘Best places to work’

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division Headquarters and TAD’s Deployed Task Forces were voted “best places to work” across USACE for 2018. The designation came from an unusual source: The employees working in Winchester, Va., and those forward deployed across the Middle East. The BPTW score is calculated based on the percentage of positive responses to questions during the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey, taken annually by Federal employees.

    Grubbs named TAD Employee of the Quarter

    Transatlantic Division Emergency Management Specialist Carey L. Grubbs was recently named TAD Employee of the Quarter for Oct-Dec 2018, during a ceremony held at the TAD headquarters in Winchester, Va. The award was presented by TAD Commander Col. Mark C. Quander, who lauded Grubbs for his great work, spearheading several highly visible and planning-intensive initiatives for TAD’s Plans and Operations Center.
  • David Lynne, Area Support Group-Afghanistan and George Parker, Flour Fire Department discuss readings from a wireless portable multi-gas monitor. The Bagram Fire Department provided ongoing, continuous monitoring for combustion risk, oxygen concentration, carbon monoxide, and other hazardous gases, as well as emergency first response and extraction capability.

    After 40 years in public service, long-time TAD PAO departs (again)

    The Transatlantic Division bid a fond farewell to a long-time public servant and friend to the organization when Joan Kibler retired (again) on March 19, 2019, after 40 years in public service. Kibler was a “reemployed annuitant” – a former federal civil servant who came out of retirement to return to Federal service – supporting TAD’s Public Affairs office.

  • Transatlantic Division assists USCENTCOM with updating design, construction standards

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division provides direct support to U.S. Central Command, functioning as the primary provider of engineering services to the combatant command and numerous U.S. and foreign customers throughout the more than 4 million-square-mile area of operations. Exemplifying the USACE vision to provide engineering solutions for the nation’s toughest challenges, the Transatlantic Division is helping USCENTCOM with a major rewrite of its Sand Book, a manual outlining construction guidelines, while concurrently updating the Contingency Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) design standards and processes.

    565th FEST rolls out while 553rd gets boots on the ground

    With the current focus on preparing the Expeditionary Task Forces based in selected areas in preparation to deter the Taliban from occupying ground in Afghanistan, the FEST-A team seamlessly transitions.

    Emergency repair takes place throughout the wee morning hours

    When there is an emergency repair to keep things running smoothly the Operations and Maintenance Team jumps into action to maintain the quality of the equipment and mitigate any issues.
