    School of Excellence under Construction

    Afghanistan District leaders checked the progress of construction at the Camp Commando School of Excellence in the Kabul province in early June.
  • Captain experiences new perspective on Middle East through USACE

    Capt. Scott Pancotto spent the past year with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District as a project engineer and program manager forward in Bahrain.
  • Northern Electrical Power System provides power in Logar Province

    BAGRAM, Afghanistan – The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is expanding electrical grid power for military bases, businesses, and residents across the country. Most recently in Logar Province in eastern Afghanistan, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani inaugurated the 220kV substation during an inauguration and ribbon-cutting ceremony, held in May shortly after its completion.
  • Cadet Lowdermilk training in Kuwait

    Cadet Samantha Lowdermilk was assigned a summer cadet leadership training opportunity with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District through the Army ROTC program at the University of Virginia.
  • Quander assumes command of the Transatlantic Division

    On May 22, Brig. Gen. David C. Hill transferred command of the Transatlantic Division to Col. Mark C. Quander. Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, presided over the ceremony. More than 175 people witnessed the transfer of command at the Division Headquarters, and Division offices located in Iraq and Afghanistan watched via video teleconference.
  • New Kabul Compound Medical Clinic recognized for supporting USACE deployees

    BAGRAM, Afghanistan – On June 4, the Afghanistan District commander, Colonel Kimberly Colloton, expressed appreciation to the staff at the New Kabul Compound Medical Clinic for their life-saving support to the District’s military and civilian personnel. On various occasions, district personnel with medical issues have been treated by the New Kabul Compound Medical Clinic, and in some cases, the medical situations have required quick reaction for surgery or medical evacuation.
  • New facility inaugurated at Camp Pamir to support Afghan Women’s Police Program

    BAGRAM, Afghanistan – A new training, billeting and daycare facility for the Afghan Women’s Police Participation Program was celebrated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on April 22, 2018.
