Middle East District Awards Job Order Contract in Southwest Asia

WINCHESTER, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a job order contract on Dec. 26, 2012, for work on an air base in Southwest Asia. The one-year contract, with a capacity of $10 million over its life span – has four one-year option periods that can be awarded as needed by the government. The contract was awarded to Babel Trading Group of Ajman, UAE.

The job order contract is used for small construction and repair jobs and other facility support requirements. Typical projects include electrical substation upgrades, an industrial area compact station, and facility renovations such as food storage, utility improvements, and security upgrades.

The Middle East District provides engineering, construction and related services in the Middle East, Central Asia and other areas. Its work includes designing and constructing facilities for use by U.S. forces, performing engineering activities for other U.S. government and foreign agencies, and providing operations and maintenance services for various customers. In addition, the District provides project management, engineering, contracting and support services to USACE districts in Afghanistan.
