Margaret A. Jones, PMP

Afghanistan District Deputy District Engineer

Ms. Margaret A. Jones, PMP, is currently deployed as the Deputy District Engineer (DDE) for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Afghanistan District where she is responsible for providing program and project management oversight services to support the district’s mission in Afghanistan.

Prior to becoming the DDE, Ms. Jones was he Program Manager for the Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan (CSTC-A)$315M Operations and Maintenance Program for infrastructure projects supporting both the Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police.

After leaving the private sector, Ms. Jones began her career with USACE in 1992 at the Alaska District. As a project engineer and Quality Assurance Representative at the Richardson Resident Office she oversaw the construction of numerous projects throughout Ft. Richardson and in remote areas of Alaska. In 1998 Ms. Jones joined the Egypt Area Office as the Resident Engineer for the construction and installation of medical equipment for the $141 M Egyptian Medical Facility.

Ms. Jones then transitioned to the Transatlantic Center in 2000 assisting the Contract Admin Branch in the evaluation and negotiations of claims for Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Chaired Source Selection Evaluation Boards for numerous contract awards. Expanding her horizons, she served in Iraq at the Gulf Region Division from August 2004 thru December 2007. During this tenure, she served as the Deputy Director of Business Management, Deputy Director Military Programs and Liaison Office Officer for Reachback under Mr. Steve Stockton.

Returning to the Middle East District in 2008 Ms. Jones oversaw the Military Construction (MILCON), Economic Support Fund (ESF) and Commanders Emergency Response Program (CERP) programs in Iraq before transitioning to the Transatlantic Division in 2009 as the Chief of Programs. In 2009 Ms. Jones joined the Transatlantic Division (TAD) as a program manager. She served as Chief of the Program Integration Division and transitioned to Afghanistan and served as the Deputy Chief of Construction for the Transatlantic South Division. Upon returning to TAD in 2013, Ms. Jones was the Chief of the Program Integration Division from 2013 through 2015 and then assumed the Chief of the Business Integration Division from 2015 through 2017. From 2017 to 2019 she was responsible for the Leadership Development Tier 3 Program and was responsible for establishing and implementing the Regional Business Center construct division-wide.

A registered Project Management Professional, Ms. Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She has received numerous awards including the Department of the Army’s Commander’s Award for Civilian Service and the DeFluery Medal. Ms. Jones currently resides in Stephens City, Virginia and has four adult children.
