USACE's only forward-deployed district welcomed its newest commander here July 6. The reins to the caravan were passed to Col. Mohammed Rahman by outgoing district commander, Lt. Col. Richard Childers.

    Division announces Employee of the Quarter

    Joey Behr, a Program Manager in the Business Integration Division, was named the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division’s Employee of the Quarter for October-December 2019. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Behr’s selection was announced during a telephonic All-Hands Town Hall held across the globe on March 19, 2020, with employees from inside the U.S. and from around a dozen countries in the Middle East.

    Two from TAD receive Civilian Service Achievement Medal

    JoAnn Evans, a former Transatlantic Division employee who was recently inducted into the organization’s Gallery of Distinguished Civilians, and Susan Fenton, a current TAD employee, both were awarded the Civilian Service Achievement Medal during a ceremony here Feb. 20.
  • TAD inducts former employees into new Gallery of Distinguished Civilians

    As the Transatlantic Division joins the rest of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in celebrating Engineer Week 2020, the Division inducted two former TAD employees into its new Gallery of Distinguished Civilians (GoDC) in front of family, friends and former co-workers. The two inaugural inductees – Donn Booker and Jo-Ann Evans – complement this year's Engineer Week theme, which is “Pioneers of Progress.” Both were inducted into the GoDC during a ceremony held Feb. 20, 2020 at TAD’s headquarters in Winchester, Va.
  • Engineer School Commandant’s promotion makes American History

    It was fitting that the promotion ceremony for newly promoted Brig. Gen. Mark C. Quander took place on Feb. 14, 2020, halfway through Black History Month. The extended Quander family is the only African American family to produce four general officers in the U.S. military. The other three general officers who encompass this history were also in attendance at the promotion ceremony: Gen. (ret.) Vincent K. Brooks, Maj. Gen. (ret.) Leo A. Brooks, Sr., and Brig. Gen. (ret.) Leo A. Brooks, Jr. The Brooks family remains the only African American family to have three general from the same immediate family, and is connected to the Quander family tree in several ways, with the primary link being through Naomi Lewis Brooks, the mother to Leo Jr. and Vincent Brooks.

    Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’” Each year in January Americans answer his question by coming together on Dr. King’s birthday to serve their neighbors and communities. We celebrate the life of Dr. King and acknowledge his achievements as a citizen, a civil rights leader, and a tireless advocate of the American ideals of liberty, equality, and justice for all. But this commemoration is not just about remembering a man who had a great impact on our nation. It is a day to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy by engaging in community service.

Semonite, the 54th Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer, “coined” TAD Logistics Specialist Tim O'Dell for his outstanding support to the Division members here at the headquarters and at deployed locations across the Middle East and Central Asia.
