We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    In Recognition of National Engineers Week it is only befitting that the Soldier who is Second in Command in a contingency environment be recognized for his dynamic leadership of military, civilian, and contract employees in Afghanistan.

    Adversity and flexibility have always been the foundation for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, and as the landscape of Afghanistan continues to evolve, so do transitions within USACE in continuing to support its mission in theater.

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to build critical infrastructure for the Afghan nation. As the peace talk’s loom, and the Transatlantic Afghanistan District maintains its course for success, it will continue using economical engineering solutions to build stability in the region, employing local labor, empowering them with the ability to see the fruits of their own labor.

    Month of the Military Child takes on a whole new meaning in Afghanistan

    As Month of the Military Child wraps up on April 30, and it is a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, with an emphasis on the experience of the dependent children of military members, USACE Afghanistan District is affording a better opportunity for the Women and Children of the Afghan National Army.

    Afghanistan District sets the stage for future engineers

    National Engineers Week ends on this date after a week long celebration of Engineers around the globe. It's been known as #Eweek2019 and many stories highlighting the accomplishments of Engineers and the teams that support them have been published. USACE Afghanistan District hosts a new generation of Engineers.
