Engineer School Commandant’s promotion makes American History
Brig. Gen. Mark Quander was pinned with a set of heirloom insignia that was previously worn by other members of the family. The subdued insignia on his operational camouflage pattern hat adorned Gen. (ret.) Vincent Brooks’ uniform. The rank on the epaulets Quander will wear on his Army service uniform shirt were also worn by Vincent Brooks when he was a brigadier general. The silver star on Quander’s beret was first worn by Maj. Gen. (ret.) Leo Brooks Sr. upon his promotion to brigadier general and then by Vincent Brooks when he pinned on his first star. And, the nameplate worn on Quander’s uniform is the same one worn by his father, the late Lt. Col. (ret.) Francis A. Quander, Jr.
